She Rang the Bell!!!

…Okay, they were chimes, but after six grueling months, Sarah joyfully rang the bell this morning, marking the end of the chemo journey, hopefully for good! We're incredibly grateful for the remarkable medical team who guided us through this challenging time. Their compassion, expertise, and kindness have been invaluable.

We cannot tell you how important your prayers, words of encouragement, meals, acts of generosity, and friendship have been to us on this journey. We sincerely could not have made it this far without you!

Folks have asked how we will celebrate, and we answer that we’ll probably celebrate in two weeks when we drop Maddie off in Pittsburgh, as that’s likely when Sarah feels up to it. Until then, we are grateful that this is the last time she will feel like this.

Please pray the nausea will not be as bad this round. Also, pray against complications as Sarah weathers this last round of the effects of this chemo, and that she can join us in moving Maddie into Pitt on August 18th. Thanks, friends!

Saturday’s update will contain more details on the way forward, but for now, we wanted to celebrate the completion of this significant leg of the journey with you.

My Bible reading this morning happened to be Psalms 111-118. These verses were very fitting for the day:

Psalm 116:5-9

    [5] Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; our God is merciful.

    [6] The LORD preserves the simple; when I was brought low, he saved me.

    [7] Return, O my soul, to your rest; for the LORD has dealt bountifully with you.

    [8] For you have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears,my feet from stumbling;

    [9] I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.

Psalm 118:24-25

    [24] This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

    [25] Save us, we pray, O LORD! O LORD, we pray, give us success!
