CT Results—The Journey Continues
I had an appointment today about the “complication” I mentioned last week, which turns out to be something called Mondor Disease. Thankfully, it’s not as serious as the name sounds! It’s a palpable inflamed vein that feels like a firm, thread-like line under my skin, extending toward my abdomen. It’s rare but can be triggered by body trauma, like a mastectomy. It should resolve on its own; I just need to be careful with how much physical activity I’m doing. (I noticed it after changing bedsheets, throwing a king mattress around. Oops! Still learning my limits).
We also spoke with my oncologist, Dr. Suresh, yesterday about the results of my abdominal CT scan. The good news is my liver looks great! Praise the Lord! However, a few other areas showed up on the scan that need further investigation: a spot on my hip bone, a cloudy area on my kidney, and something uncertain with my bile duct. Dr. Suresh said these “inconclusive” findings are common when you have a scan like this. She is not concerned about cancer or anything necessarily serious but needs to be thorough. Soooo, I have two more scans next week—a bone scan with Nuclear Medicine on Wednesday and an abdominal MRI on Thursday. Yes, it’s a little disheartening—we were hoping to be finished with scans—but we’re thankful she’s being thorough. We’re grateful the Lord is not surprised by this and know he will continue to give us the endurance we need. Thank you for continuing to pray us along this journey—it truly means so much!
My foot stands on level ground; in the great assembly I will bless the Lord. —Psalm 26:12
He knows the way that I take; when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold. —Job 23:10
Prayer:
Scans are not by favorite. I’m claustrophobic in the MRI machine (though Ativan helps a lot), and the tracer injections I receive in Nuclear Medicine are painful (I had to do this before my surgery too), but the Holy Spirit has always helped me! Please ask the Lord to, once again, give me calm, courage, and smooth procedures. The bone scan is Wednesday11/6 and the MRI is Thursday 11/7.
Please pray for clean scan results with no further question marks or complications.
Pray that the inflamed vein in my abdomen calms down and goes away entirely. And that I will be wise with my physical activity.
Pray that I will get my full range of motion back in my arms.
Pray for good sleep. Anthony and I have both slept restlessly the past few weeks.
Pictures: Beautiful Fall scenes from our area. I’m always enamored with God’s creativity this time of year!
