Brief Update: Infusion #9
Surprisingly, I was able to proceed with my 9th infusion today!
My liver numbers are still elevated, so I will continue on the prednisone for another 2 weeks to help reduce the inflammation. We met with my oncologist, Dr. Pooja Suresh, who still thinks the Keytruda is causing these side effects and does not anticipate reintroducing it. We will continue with chemo only. We feel good about this plan!
This adjusts our timeline a bit. After I complete my 12th weekly infusion in my current regimen, they will then give me the next regimen (the "red devil" portion) every 2 weeks (instead of every 3). The doctor said they only give this portion every 3 weeks if Keytruda is involved, and since that is not my case anymore, every 2 weeks shows a better prognosis to avoid recurrence.
If this continues to play out as anticipated, I may be able to take Maddie to college. I remain open-handed with this and continue to trust the Lord to work out these details as he sees best.
In good news, when the doctor examined me, she could not find the tumor anymore! Her exact words were, "It was right here, wasn't it?" Thank you, Lord! This is a direct answer to prayer and a big reason to celebrate!
I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds. —Psalm 9:1
Picture: With Erin and Rachel by my side today, our infusion room was full of hugs, great snacks, and laughter—and was certainly the loudest on the floor! :) One of the staff said. "You always bring the best people with you." I have to agree!
