All the Little Moments
This week off of treatment proved to be timely and beneficial on many levels…
For one, my liver numbers came way down almost to normal range this week. So very thankful for that! We're encouraged that my body is responding favorably when given a chance to rebound on these "rest" weeks. I will be able to continue with treatment this coming week, and hopefully with this next dose of chemo, my medical team will be able to tell if it is the chemo or Keytruda to blame, so we can adjust accordingly. Please pray for wisdom for the doctors as we figure out if we need to discontinue or change one of the meds in my treatment plan. We're asking that God would make clear the most curative option with the least negative long-term impact on my body.
I was also grateful this week for the energy to enjoy normal things like going for walks with Anthony, chatting and praying with a friend over coffee, completing projects at work, cheering at Asher's volleyball game, and celebrating Maddie's 18th birthday (Eighteen! How is it possible?!). These simple activities hold new significance these days.
Cancer has a way of slowing you down to appreciate what would otherwise blur by in the swirling pace of "normal" life. I'm contemplating Psalm 90:12 with fresh appreciation in this season: Lord, teach me to number my days, and recognize the brevity of life, that I may gain a heart of wisdom.
Pictures: Our sweet Maddie turned 18 this week! We are so thankful for the joy this beautiful girl brings to our lives. Not only did we love celebrating her, but so many of YOU also went out of your way to make her feel special. Thank you! Watching how God is taking care of our kids through personal and tangible ways in this hard season has been faith-building for me.
