Chemo #2 Update and Prayer
Round 2 went well! Thank you, Lord. No allergic reactions. I found out I am anemic and iron deficient, so in addition to my chemo I stayed an extra hour to receive an iron infusion. I'll get one more next week. I am so thankful for Meghan, Angela, Carlie, Rick and Emily who took care of me today. Our team at Jefferson is amazing. And I had Anthony and Maddie along with me, so I was in good hands all around!
For our prayer warriors out there, below are some specifics for you to bring to the Lord. We have a chorus of pray-ers all across the country and even the world, and we don't take that for granted. We truly believe that the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective (James 5:16).
Please pray...
that my iron levels get to a healthy place so I don't need to delay treatment or get a blood transfusion.
specifically against headaches this time around after chemo. You can also pray against other potential side effects like nausea, mouth sores, and permanent neuropathy.
for sleep tonight after the steroids.
for a "complete response" to the treatment (ie: no cancer cells left when this is over).
that the Lord would prepare me for my hair appointment tomorrow (Tues) afternoon to get my head shaved. This "hair thing" is a very personal decision and one that everyone handles differently, I’m finding. I will start losing my hair sometime this week, and while shaving it off will be emotional, I think it will be less traumatic for me than to experience it falling out in clumps. The Lord is slowly warming my heart to the idea. Losing my hair is part of this journey (thankful it's temporary!), and this is a step for me to embrace it. My daughter and a couple of friends are taking me to a private salon, so I will have a great team cheering me on.
With gratitude for Jesus and for you all,
Sarah
